Fuel Testers TIPS for Choosing a Gas Additive with E10 fuel type.
Most product names listed above are registered trademark. Contact manufacturer directly for information.
Always check engine and product manufacturer recommendations, before using any type of fuel additive.

Information contained in above chart primarily obtained from product manufacturer official MSDS and product literature.  We are not responsible for any typographical errors.  If you believe any information is inaccurate send documentation to fuel.testers@yahoo.com

The information listed on the products above is not a recommendation for or against any specific product; It is intended to educate public on ingredients additives often contain, so you are better informed on what products and ingredients are most appropriate as an E10 gas additive, when necessary.

FUEL-TESTERS COMPANY BELIEVES GAS ADDITIVES ARE OFTEN UNNECESSARY WITH E10 FUEL...

More information & Tips on Gas Additive Use with E10 Fuel:

Avoid additives that contain strong solvents, alcohols and water-absorbing ingredients when gas contains ethanol (e10).
Improper use of gas additives will increase risks, cause damage and invalidate engine warranty.

Beware of misleading product claims, it is scientifically impossible to "remove all water from fuel" with just a liquid additive.

The brand of gasoline and type of engine should always be considered when choosing to use any gas additive product.  Gasoline already contains many of the same ingredients used in many fuel additive/gas treatment products.
- Usually 10% ethanol, now found in most gas, replaces the need for additional fuel system cleansers.

Over the years we have received numerous reports from consumers who have experienced engine damage from contaminated (E10) gasoline. There are many varied reasons for actual cause of damage, including poor quality gasoline, improper E10 fuel management, misuse of gas additives. and more...

Tip: You do NOT want to force excess water back into gas; You do NOT want to add ethanol alcohol to manage E10 side effects;
Strong emulsifiers will not only force alcohol/water back into petroleum gas, they may also solidify engine lubricating oils and gasoline ingredients, causing clogging, gelling and gunk throughout the engine.

Learn the names of alcohols to avoid unnecessary use of fuel additives that contain alcohol with E10 gasoline.

COMMMON NAMES OF ALCOHOLS:
Ethanols: ethyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, grain alcohol, alcohol sulfuris, ammonia in alcohol, aromatic spirit of ammonia, carbon disulfide, denatured alcohol, diacetone alcohol, rubbing alcohol, spirit of wine, t-Butyl alcohol...
Names of chemicals similar to ethanol: 2-Butoxyethanol, Butoxyethanol, Butyl cellosolve, 2-butoxy- Ethylene glycol, mono-n-butyl ether, Ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, Monobutyl ethylene glycol ether, n-Butoxyethanol.  More...

Alcohol Fuel Test Kits and Quik-Check will check both gas and liquid gas additive products
for ethanol/alcohol content.

Fuel Testers supplies the knowledge and resources you need to protect your engines from alcohol fuel - Auto, Marine, Aircraft....
Ethanol alcohol, a renewable reformulated fuel, supports the farming industry and decreases U.S. dependence on foreign fuels.
Ethanol alcohol blend fuels, made from corn & grains, can damage engines.
CORN FUELS...
Avoid unnecessary use of alcohol-containing gas treatment products when running your engine on E10 fuel.

TIPS for Choosing a Gas Additive with E10 fuel type:
  • AVOID products that contain alcohol (includes isopropyl, methanol, etc.) and/or strong solvents, emulsifiers and water-absorbing agents.
  • No additive (chemical ingredient) can prevent or remove water from a sedentary tank in storage.
  • Don't fall prey to deceptive advertising and scare tactics - Check product ingredients before use.
  • Additives that are beneficial usually raise energy (improve performance) and help protect parts (lubricate).
  • Since E10 is a strong solvent, cleanser, de-greaser, anti-freeze and octane enhancer it often replaces the need for additional gas additives.  Ask yourself, why add more alcohol, for "prevention" for ethanol alcohol-caused gas problems? Simply makes no sense...

Simple E10 precautions are usually enough to avoid most gas-caused problems.
#1 E10 Gas Problem=Water Absorption Causing Phase Separation:
No miracle additive exists that can stop ethanol from absorbing water ---> Your best defense= Buying high quality gasoline + replacing often - Always test gasoline to confirm water-free with 10% or less ethanol.

Notes:
(1) Ethanol Shield: Despite containing hazardous ingredients, B3C Fuel Solutions (illegally) neglects/refuses to describe ingredients, MSDS states "Trade Secret" and "Confidential", an obvious sign that product and company CAN NOT BE TRUSTED.
(2) Seafoam MSDS lists "IPA" under ingredients. The only commonly used term for abreviation IPA =Isopropyl Alcohol. Isopropyl alcohol is soluble in water. Seafoam Sales Company did not respond to our request for more information.
(3) April 07, 2009 - "Ingredients, alcohol content and water solubility" listed in chart for #131 Neutra Fuel Stabilizer (Schaeffer Manufacturing Company) REMOVED due to telephone request from Schaeffer Company representative (P.H.)  Information included in chart was obtained directly from product MSDS, which is public information. It concerns us whenever a company attempts to withhold information from consumers.  Contact company directly for product information or contact EPA for assistance. Neutra #131 is registered with the EPA.
(4) Shellsol is an industrial solvent chemical found in many products. Shellsol D60 chemical name = Solvent Naphtha (Petroleum) Medium Aliphatic. Class: Petroleum SOLVENT. Registered trademark of Shell.
Warning notes: Likely due to incompatibility with ethanol fuel blends, we have received the most reports of engine damage caused by a gas additive from those who used PRI-G and Ezorb. Reports state fuel thickens, gels-up and clogs carburetor and filters. Caution advised.
